Leadership for Effective Change (LFEC) - Training Programme
Leadership for Effective Change (LFEC) is a training programme being offered to grassroots faith and community leaders from different backgrounds, all ages (18+) & experiences, who have a heart for creating change and developing social action within their neighbourhoods and communities.
We particularly welcome leaders from ethnic minority backgrounds who may not have equal access to other leadership programmes. We are offering the LFEC training in our Birmingham, East London, and Lancashire hubs.
The training consists of six 2-hour on-line sessions run in consecutive weeks in 2 cohorts (evening and daytime sessions). You can choose to attend either the daytime or the evening sessions. Upon completion of the course, there will be an opportunity for participants to meet each other for a face to face celebratory event/meal.
DATES & TIMES
Evening sessions: Tuesdays 6pm till 8pm on 7th, 14th, 21st, 28th February and 7th, 14th March
Daytime sessions: Thursdays 11am till 1pm on 16th, 23rd February and 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd March
The training equips participants with understanding of how power works and offers practical tools of developing public actions and campaigns to effect change. We will look at developing diverse local teams, the use of storytelling and public speaking to share your message more effectively in the community, how to run participatory listening campaigns to identify issues of common concern in a local area, how to conduct power analyses to develop strategies and plans for social action and negotiation with relevant decision makers. This is a very participatory course, with loads of interaction & group discussions!

DELIVERY OF TRAINING
Training is delivered by experienced community organisers and campaigners who have over ten-year track record of using community organising methodology to create change on a local, regional and national level. The training was originally developed as a collaborative project between Near Neighbours East London Hub at the Centre for Theology and Community and Citizens UK. Both organisations have a particular interest in strengthening civic institutions and developing agency of underrepresented groups to tackle inequality and injustice within our communities and neighbourhoods.
The training if offered on a first come first served basis – the spaces are limited so timely booking is recommended.
