About the National Windrush Museum: The National Windrush Museum (NWM) is the UK’s first institution dedicated to preserving and promoting the legacy of the Windrush generations and their descendants. Through exhibitions, research, education, and public engagement, the museum tells the stories of Caribbean-British communities who shaped modern Britain. NWM is committed to amplifying Windrush voices through story-telling, cultural justice, and national remembrance

DescriFunded by the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG), Near Neighbours are collecting project materials and information to share with the National Windrush Museum. The Museum will use these materials to create an archive for inclusion in the National Windrush Museum's collection, documenting, preserving, and celebrating the legacy of the Windrush generation as well as the projects funded by the Windrush Day Grant Scheme (WDGS). The collection, set to launch in late Autumn 2025, will be a publicly accessible resource designed to share the stories and outcomes of these impactful projects with a wider audience.
-
This opportunity is open to all recipients of the WDGS administered by Near Neighbours. If your organisation has completed a WDGS-funded project, we encourage you to submit the relevant materials and information related to your project for potential inclusion in the collection.
-
You can submit:
Photos and videos of your project.
Worksheets, reports, scripts, transcriptions or other relevant documents that showcase the outcomes and legacy of your project.
Links to shareable online content, such as videos, podcasts or websites.
-
Item Yes, the National Windrush Museum aims to create a meaningful and engaging collection, so we kindly ask that you submit only your best work. (If you have been funded multiple times, you may submit up to double the number of photographs and PDFs listed.)
You can submit a maximum of:
Three social media handles
Three video or audio links that can easily be embedded onto another site, such as Vevo, YouTube and Spotify.
Two relevant website links.
Six photographs. If you have been funded multiple times, please include the year in the file name. Captions should be included in the online form.
Four PDFs per project. These can include worksheets, reports, scripts, transcriptions, or other relevant documents. If, for example, you have 10 primary school worksheets that you’d love to include, consider combining them into one larger PDF. However, excessively large PDFs are discouraged – please think about using a free online tool to compress large files so that plenty of space is available for everyone.
If you submit significantly more PDFs or photos than the specified limits, the National Windrush Museum may be unable to include your project in the Digital Heritage Collection. To make sure your work is considered for inclusion, please stick to these guidelines. This will help us gather a full range of project materials.
